Remote Interpreter Training & What It Takes To Get Licensed

Remote interpreter training is a great way for bilingual adults to make a career change. Especially if you want a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work anywhere with internet connection. Naturally, you don't want to start from the bottom. So you start looking for something, anything, that builds upon what you already know. And as it turns out, you've got decades of practice in English, and other languages. So, you discover professional language interpreting- which sounds exactly like what you've been looking for! But you probably have questions like "do I need a license to become a language interpreter?" or "why can't I just take the interpreter licensing exam, and skip remote interpreter training all together?"

"Do I get a license at the end of remote interpreter training?"

The short answer is: no, you don't.

The long answer is: This is a training course, that will teach you how to become an interpreter. So, when you have passed our online training course, you will still need to take an official examination in order to get an interpreter license. We provide the training and instruction required to pass those interpreter examinations.

To put it another way: remember how you got a drivers license? You needed to learn the rules of the road, take a drivers' education class, get practical driving experience, and pass your licensing examination before you could get a drivers' license. Getting an official language interpreters' license is a lot like that... because it's a process.

Did you know: You must prove that you successfully completed classroom training before you can even register to take the interpreter licensing exam in your state!

"What will I learn in your remote interpreter training course?"

Even if you want to, or already provide informal language interpreting (like for your family, community or at work for example) there are still ethical, legal and procedural standards that you must learn before you can do it professionally. Our interpreting training course will teach you all of that including, but not limited to:

  • Confidentiality and respecting client privacy laws
  • Interpreter code of ethics
  • Professional boundaries
  • Note-taking and memory retention
  • Industry specific terminology
  • Handling high-stress conversations in real-time
  • Different interpreter modalities and when each one is appropriate

In addition, our students receive top-of-the-line instruction throughout our 7-week, 45-hour course. One that has been specifically designed to accommodate your busy schedules.  For a career that doesn't require a college education, or taking out massive loans to pay for your education- we provide everything you need to be successful. Here's some advantages of our unique interpreter training programs:

"How do I become a language interpreter?"

All of our courses prepare students to pass their states' language interpreter licensing exams. Because the truth is, you don't have to go out and get a license at the end of our training course if you don't want to. In fact, a lot of bilingual language interpreters have made very successful careers without an official interpreter license.

But if you do want to become a licensed language interpreter, you cannot skip our training course because it is a requirement to enroll for your licensing examination.
