What you will learn:

Standard Course: The standard healthcare interpreting course teaches students the fundamentals of becoming a medical interpreter. Everything from patient consultations to hospital visits. Basic medical terminology and concepts, healthcare protocol and ethics are covered in this standardized course. Emphasizing language skills, patient advocacy and different modalities of interpreting- this course provides the fundamentals to become a professional interpreter.

Advanced Course: Preparing for the NBCMI licensing exam is an additional course for a reason. The exam covers specific medical conditions, which each have their own specific terminology and processes. And you must know how to provide language interpretation for healthcare conditions to pass the exam. Examples of subjects the exam covers include: Diabetes, Cancer, Radiology, HIV/AIDS, Pharmacology etc.
