How Does Our Healthcare Interpreting Fast-Track Employment?
Healthcare interpreting is a fast way for bilingual adults to begin a new, meaningful career. Why? Because you already know two languages! You have probably been speaking two languages for most, if not all of your life. So why wouldn't you turn your language ability into a profitable career as a medical interpreter? The average bilingual adult wonders why you need a medical interpreting course in the first place. Especially with A.I and other companies offering the same thing, why do you need a healthcare interpreting training certificate at all? And when you become a medical interpreter after your course is over, how will you find a job?
⇒ Healthcare interpreting is a skills-based profession
We teach professional interpreting skills - NOT entire languages
We require all students to pass a competency exam before beginning our courses. Why? Simply put: because you need an extensive vocabulary in both English and your target language to understand what we teach. Which in short, is what your potential employers are actually going to look for: professional training and proof of competency. That proof comes in two forms:
- A medical interpreter training certificate (proving that you completed professional skills training through mandatory classroom hours)
- OPTIONAL certification exams like the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) that you can pursue after completing our standard course
⇒ Certificate vs Certification, does the difference matter?
We CANNOT certify medical interpreters and we DO NOT provide a license!
Medical language interpreting is not a licensed field like nursing or physical therapy. In fact, there is no government-issued license that allows or prohibits you from working as a medical interpreter. Many bilingual adults assume "if I don't have a certification I can't work." That is just not true. Here's the reality:
A medical interpreter training certificate:
• Proves you completed professional training & classroom hours
• Certifies that you understand: medical terminology, ethics and standards of practice, interpreting techniques, patient-provider communication
• What hospitals, clinics and agencies require when hiring entry-level interpreters
• Allows you to start working entry-level positions immediately
A national certification like the NBCMI:
• Completely optional ... it is NOT mandatory
• Often pursued after getting real-world experience working as a medical interpreter
• Requires additional fees, testing and continued education
• Is not required for many interpreting jobs
⇒ Our healthcare interpreting course is a no brainer
A.I is making our interpreter training more important
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing many industries and language interpreting is one of them. But medical language interpreting is not disappearing... in fact, the demand is growing. Here's why...
• A.I cannot function on its own
Yes, investors have spent a lot of money trying to make A.I happen, and there has been a lot of valid chatter about it. But the reality is that the technology is not readily available - it is truly just hypothetical at this point. So before it can take away a future job you don't even have yet, it needs to exist and it needs to be cheaply available on a wide scale. And then the technology has to advance to a point where it doesn't need human intervention at all. Don't let the idea of tomorrow stop you from becoming a medical interpreter today!
• EVERY language interpreter should be using it already!
Our program provides practical, and career-specific skills trainings unique in the online learning market. In your lifetime, savvy language professionals will use A.I to their advantage. For streamlining processes and documentation. Especially for redundant and time-consuming tasks that currently take hours. In all reality, A.I is still going to need skilled and trained language translators and interpreters to ensure accuracy, read emotional cues, handle stressful conflicts in real time etc. That doesn't mean your hypothetical job gets wiped away by a hypothetical piece of technology that isn't even available yet.
