Step 1: Enroll in your course
Our online interpreter training programs are unique because we prioritize authentic learning. Most interpreter training courses will have generic information, that students must follow all on their own. Our approach delivers high-quality learning through video-chat webinars. Step 2: Successfully complete your course
What does it mean to "successfully complete your online interpreter course?" To put it in the simplest way possible: you took the final exam and passed it. As with anything in life, you have to do the work in order to get recognition. And our interpreting training school is no different. Because you have to attend class to understand the assignments. Students must demonstrate they understood the material in order to pass the final exam. Once you have passed the final exam, students receive their interpreter training certificate.
In other words: if you don't do the assignments and you don't show up to class you won't pass the final exam. These students will not receive an interpreter training certificate.
Step 3: Receive your certificate
Once you have passed the final exam, students will be considered successful and will then receive an interpreter certificate. Your certificate will include your name, and the course you completed in the same way that a college degree or high school diploma will. Because you will need it when clients or employers ask to see your interpreter certifications. It is the document you will need to provide in your professional career that certifies your professional qualifications.
"What is interpreter certification?"
Interpreter certification is sometimes called professional interpreter certification or a language interpreter license. We cannot give you this because it is a formal validation of your skills and competency as a professional language interpreter run by a state organization. To get interpreter certification, you will need to take a state-sponsored licensing examination through a credentialing organization like the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) for example.
To register for these interpreter certification exams, you must submit our interpreter training certificate. Because these organizations require proof of classroom training hours before you can even take their exam.
"Do I need interpreter certification to work as a professional language interpreter?"
Nope! You do not need interpreter certification to work as a language interpreter
There is no official language interpreter license that can be given or taken away for misconduct. Yet, the reason professional linguists and translators want one is to prove their credibility. Especially if you plan on working for yourself and opening your own interpreting business, getting an interpreter certification is a smart decision. Certain organizations like hospitals or courthouses will ask that you prove your interpreting capabilities. But most often, they will conduct their own testing in-house.
