The answer is both yes and no. To do so, medical interpreter must study and pass the polices, ethics, vocabulary etc that is covered in a legal interpreter training course in order to find work as a legal interpreter; or vice versa. You must take the training course(s) at online interpreter school in the field(s) you want to work in; as the subjects are entirely different.

This really depends on training. If a students passes the 60hr online medical interpreting training course, the typical entry level salary with an interpreting agency or hospital is $25 an hour. As with any industry, the more training and experience an interpreter has will result in higher pay, but a medical interpreter will earn the same as a legal interpreter as long as they have the same level of experience and certification.
