CUSTOMIZED COURT AND LEGAL INTERPRETER TRAINING FOR BILINGUAL EMPLOYEES ONLINE AND ON-SITE
This Court and Legal Interpreter Training Program was developed to enable bilingual individuals to become interpreters working in the legal field and in court systems.
Our existing Court and Legal Interpreter Training Training curriculum can be adapted to meet our client’s specific needs. The length of training can also be customized to fit your organization’s needs: 2 days, 3 days, 4 days or longer.
The curriculum focuses on topics essential to the court interpreter, including:
• Ethics for court interpreters
• Courtroom procedures and protocol
• Legal procedure
• Interpreting modes and techniques
• Legal concepts and terminology
• Skill development (consecutive and simultaneous interpretation and sight translation)
• Specialized vocabulary, including slang, drug, weaponry and immigration terms
The course introduces participants to legal and court interpreter roles and skills, interpreter ethics, and legal and court terminology in both English and the target language. Students will gain an understanding of the Massachusetts legal system and take a close look at the Standards and Procedures for Court Interpreters, the document which regulates professional court interpreting in Massachusetts.
Language coaching and role-plays in the target language are offered by experienced interpreters who are native speakers of the target language.
