CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAM
The Online Translation and Localization Certificate Training Program is a 45-hour 7-week training course that was developed to enable bilingual participants to become competent written translators in different professional fields, such as business, law, healthcare, technology, tourism, media, government, and learn how to utilize computer-assisted translation software tools (e.g. translation memory and machine translation).
Our highly engaging online classes combined with live instructor-led interactive webinars are easy to access from wherever you are.
We are accepting applications for our 45-hour 7-week Online Translation and Localization Certificate Training Session that starts on February 10, 2025 and ends on March 27, 2025.
Space in the training program is limited and is filling up quickly, so we recommend early registration. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the course is full.
TRANSLATION AND LOCALIZATION CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAM INFO
Written language translators are needed in various contexts and industries. Some common areas where written language translators are in demand include international organizations, government agencies, media and publishing, the localization industry, the legal sector, the healthcare industry, tourism, hospitality, and education.
The Online Translation & Localization Certificate Training course introduces participants to translator roles and skills and covers the foundations of the translator profession including translation theory and practice, terminology management, principles of translation, editing and revision, and translation technology, localization, and software tools.

$870 ($50 non-refundable registration fee plus $820 course fee)

Online classes and Interactive Webinars:
Twice a week: Tuesdays (6.30 pm - 9.30 pm EST) and Thursdays (6.30 pm - 8.00 pm EST)
Final test: the last Saturday (10.00 am – 12.00 am EST)

TRANSLATION AND LOCALIZATION CERTIFICATE TRAINING COURSE STRUCTURE:
PART 1. Theory of Translation
This part of the course covers principles, goals, and models of written translation, literary and document translation differences, stylistics in translation, cultural and situational context, and editing.
PART 2: Translation and Localization Technologies
This part of the course introduces students to translation science and technologies, translation software, CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, software and website localization, translation project management, machine translation & post-editing, translation memory, and terminology management.
PART 3: Translation Seminar, Language Specific (with a Language Coach)
Students will receive their translation homework, translate the text, and review their translations in class with their language coach.
Students will also practice sight translations with their class instructor.
Final Test Project:
As their Final Test Project, students will receive a text for translation and translate it using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) Tools.
REQUIRED SUPPLIES:
- Computer with a reliable internet connection.
- Computer Microphone and Speakers. A headset is strongly recommended to complete assignments.

PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE COURSE:
- Fluency and proficiency in written and oral English;
- Fluency and proficiency in at least one other language besides English;
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- Successful completion of language assessment Pre-test;
- Ability to communicate effectively.
HOW TO REGISTER:
STEP 1
Register online and pay a $50 non-refundable registration fee online to reserve a seat in the course.

STEP 2
After you register online and pay a $50 registration fee a language coach will contact you by email or by phone to schedule a 15-minute Language Assessment Test with you on the phone. All the tests are usually scheduled 2 weeks before the course starts.
STEP 3
If you pass the test you will need to pay the course fee. Send a check or a money order to our office address (below) or call the office to pay with a credit card on the phone.
LANGUAGE-ASSESSMENT PRE-TEST:
To be accepted into the program, applicants must pass an English as a Second Language (ESL) Pre-Test and demonstrate fluency and literacy skills in English.
Applicants must complete the ESL placement test on their own without any assistance from other people or from any English grammar books.
