Job Summary: The Interpreter Provide interpreter services to patients and their families as needed and is a liaison between ethically, culturally, and linguistically diverse patients/families and SEMC staff.  The delivery of these services requires collaboration with physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team to assure that the needs of the patient are met.  Coordination with community agencies occurs routinely to that transition from the Medical Center to the community will be timely, caring and effective.  The Interpreter reports to and is accountable to the Director of Interpreter Services.

Job Description: Qualifications: - Certification in medical terminology and medical interpreting preferred. - Bachelor's degree preferred. - May be required to work with patients and families who are in crises; be exposed to patients with major trauma, infectious disease, and or emotional upset. - Demonstrates the skills to interact and intervene with patients in these age-specific categories: - Infant - Child - Adolescent - Adult - Geriatric - Bicultural and bilingual experience required. - Medical setting experience required. - Excellent bilingual writing and language skills. - Language interpreting experience, and medical terminology training. - Medical Russian language required.
