Interpreter Training Alumni Video Contest

Interpreter training alumni: we want to hear from you! Submit a brief, 1-minute video about our courses before May 1, and you could be eligible to win a $100 Amazon gift card!

Whether your interpreter training course was 10 months or 10 years ago, we still want to hear about your experience as a student. Talk about your instructor, or what you thought about the curriculum. When your video is complete, make sure that you follow us on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn. Then submit your video before the contest ends on May 1, 2025- and you could be eligible to win!

 

Important information about our video contest:

 

1. All course alumni are invited to participate!

Was your course was 10 years ago? Did we stop running the course you took? ... We still want to hear from you! As long as you are 18+ and we can confirm that you actually took a course, you could win. Any course listed below is eligible:

• Medical interpreter training
• Advanced medical interpreter training
• Legal interpreter training
• Public service & educational interpreter training
• Immigration interpreter training
• Business interpreter training
• Translation & localization training
• English as a Second Language (ESL)
• Video Remote Interpreter training (VRI)
• Oh no! Did we stop running your course? Your alumni video could still win!

 

2. Please do not go beyond 2 minutes 

Although we enjoy podcasts and radio shows just as much as you do, this isn't the time for rambling. We applaud your tenacity, but kindly request that you keep it short and sweet! A brief video between 1 - 2 minutes is all that we need.

 

3. Video content requirements 

We want you to be honest about your experience. But there are a few simple things we must request that each video includes, in order to participate:

• Tell us which course you took, and when (medical interpreting, legal interpreting etc)
• What target language did you take it in? (Vietnamese, Spanish etc)
• Who were your instructor(s)?
• What did you like about the course? (What curriculum topics were the most valuable in your career now? What was enjoyable to learn about? Was your instructor responsive to questions? What do you remember the most about class? Did your instructor have a special way of explaining things?)
• Make sure that your video file is submitted as .MP4 or .MOV formatting only

 

4. No fancy editing required!

• Record your video on whatever device you have (cell phone, tablet etc)
• Find a quiet, and well-lit space where you can talk about your course experience for a minute or two.
• Speak directly into the microphone, so that we can clearly hear you.

That's really it!

If you don't want to show your face, you don't have to. You can always put together a slideshow through a video program if you know how to do that. Editing and effects will certainly make your video more enjoyable to watch, but we cannot give you an Academy Award.

 

5. How to submit a video

There are 2 simple ways to submit a video:

• Social media: Follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram. Upload your video, and tag us in your post. Then send us a direct message with your phone number and email address (so that we can contact you if you win!)
• Send an email: attach your video file (.MP4 or .MOV file types only!) in an email to support@interpretertrain.com. In the body of your email, tell us your name, the course you took, and when you took it. Include your phone number and your preferred contact method of choice. Ensure the subject line of your email reads "alumni video contest." You STILL have to follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram if you send an email.

 

6. Disqualification

ALL videos that include profanity, vulgar images, offensive or threatening content are strictly forbidden and ineligible for the prize. If you cannot be polite, and you wouldn't say it to a real person, we request that you please do not submit a video at all. Bullying of any kind is prohibited- so please, be respectful.

Self-promotion, advertising for other companies, or revealing sensitive personal information (like someone's address or phone number) are also grounds for elimination. Please use common-sense internet etiquette, and everything will be just fine!

 

7. How to make a winning video 

There is no limit to the number of videos 1 person can submit. If you want to, you can submit 5 different videos on 5 different days. But if you win, you will only receive 1 prize, for only 1 video. So how are we choosing a winner?

 

• Quality: we want crisp, clear images and sound in your video. No muffled voices, grainy images or corrupt files.
• Rules: We don't have many rules, but please make sure you follow our requirements.
• Honesty: we just want to hear from our real students, who took our real courses. Talk about why you enjoyed the course, and what future students should look forward to.
• Content: speak freely, and be yourself! If you want to be creative, definitely do that but don't feel like you have to. We want this to be fun!

 

8. Ownership and usage

By submitting a video, participants grant Interpreter Training Programs full ownership and usage rights. By participating in the video contest, Interpreter Training Programs reserves the right to modify or edit content as appropriate. Participants understand that videos will be used for marketing purposes. Including but not limited to website, email & social media advertising or promotional campaigns in perpetuity. Should videos receive "viral" internet attention on social media, Interpreter Training Programs is under no obligation to notify participants, nor share the profit that content receives.

 

9. Submission deadlines

The alumni video contest closes at 11:59pm on Thursday May 1, 2025. Interpreter Training Programs will review all eligible submissions, and select a winner at our sole discretion. The winner will be notified on Friday, May 9. 

 

10. General conditions

By participating in the video contest, alumni agree to follow all the conditions listed above and acknowledge that our decisions are final. Interpreter Training Programs reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the video contest if circumstances arise that are beyond our control.
